Artist's Comments

she came from Detroit

When you notice something clearly
and see it vividly, it then becomes sacred
Allen Ginsberg

there was no call for alarm,
the smoke came from the barbyQ outside
so he called off the firefighters

from the word of mouth going round,
she came from Detroit
and loved to race cars

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me,
but I think she enjoyed it
Mark Twain

she said it was a self help book,
I asked where the keys were

no reason to get upset
it will all pass eventually

Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult,
It demands that you know how to draw well,
that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition
and for colours, and that you be a true poet.
This last is essential.
Wassily Kandinsky

I find abstract the easiest. You never need to worry about perspective or proper shape. Size can go to hell.
You just draw.
And what happens, happens.

the last shot

gone as fast as the blue passes to night
and the gates swing back
to their final resting place
shut tight

well you need to know composition and balance and a few other things,
or an abstract piece can just look like child's play or a mishmash.
if it REALLY is easy (I don't really agree)
then push yourself farther
easy does not make good often.

i do like to push.
One of my works almost left the page and continued to the walls, but I dont think my landlady would have approved.
I know the abstract I did with you in mind had issues staying on the canvas.

I like the contrast between the calm, clean picture and the rough, peeled off frame.

Like beauty and the beast. The west of west is east.
Civilization and Wilderness.

Everything goes two by two.
