in the end
like the beginning
it all came together
the folds smoothed out
the creases with their sharp lines
turned to measuring points,
from here to there
and beyond
what we can see and imagine
all told
catches everyone by surprise,
the believers finally right
the sky unfolds
the heavens release
it was surely the day awaited
by many,
the closeness of the lights
and the patterns melting
across the dunes
was something to behold,
as we saw the sky split
the horizon bend around
and back into itself
as the beams melted
striking across the mercury sky
everything lost in a whirling maze
we stood above, looking down
and awaiting the final words
