dream number seven

it involved a girl and the Missouri,
the girl was wading knee deep in the river
her dress was wet
and she was reading a book
of short stories by a southern writer,
and I was fishing
with not much luck all afternoon,
she said something about how cold the water was
and how the story she was reading was very involved,
I finally caught a huge halibut that I named Dylan
and said we would have it for dinner
or we could take it home
and put in the pond near the house,
then an old paddle wheel boat came down the waterway
and slowed down near our campsite,
the Captain yelled was it alright
and I said sure,
a group of Japanese tourists were on the deck,
they asked where are all the fig trees were
and what the name of our dog was,
then they started snapping photos
and I walked back to my truck
and pulled out the wood for the fire and she took a swim and the boat moved down the way,
some music drifted from up wind and we decided to go check out who was playing,
she dried off and I put the fish in a cooler
filled with water and Dylan seemed ok,
then a thousand birds flew over and the sky went dark
and she changed into another dress and looked quite nice
her hair tied up
