1965 Black VW Beetle by DocSonian 1965 Black VW Beetle by DocSonian
The Cuban Wilfredo Lam 1943 'The Jungle'
shot down on the canals of Venice

shooting in the tornado

things got out of control
and the bankers are like the old kings
some fall and some live rich
in their penthouses pushing all the buttons

What lies ahead
always an adventure we will have to see,
What shoulda coulda will be will be,
We are mere dust
shooting in the eye of the tornado
around and around
and down-under

yes.......historically true, but has nothing to do with the car, more
a philosophy. The Peoples Car it was called. Still like seeing them on the roadways.
The painting image (with some computer trickery) I put on the house and fence is by one of my favorite painters, Wilfredo Lam.
This one is called 'The Jungle,' and the car relates to me in so many ways. I wanted one when i was a teenager, but never did own one.
I lived in Germany and loved the VW Bug, I shoot it whenever i see an old one.

And the sound it makes. Like a real, big beetle flying and buzzing.

As for the painting - thought it was the real grafitti! :o
I've never heard about that painter, now it's my turn to google a bit. Thanks. ;)

The background is "The Jungle' by Wilfredo Lam
it all makes sense if you know his work

i live in a quiet part of the planet so i have not heard of him
however there is "google"...................Cuban artist 1902-1982
the jungle was possibly inspired by Santeria, a syncretic religion

he studied in Madrid and Paris at the time of Dali and Picasso until WW2 and the Vichy government

thankyou

Venice CA, I presume - When I lived in Mar Vista, I was in a photography phase and cycling down to Venice supplied me with never ending neat car and other photo ops.

Venice indeed, that's where i come from, born in Hollywood then we drifted later jest before i left home to the beach. My dad has property on the Venice Canals. Ever ride around there? He lives there still. I go down and help him out when need be.
I know Mar Vista, used to surf near there.
The Venice boardwalk has all kind of things to see.
Some call it a circus, some call it a freak show, others avoid.

I wouldn't call it any of these - it just seemed like a place where people who dance to a different tune can feel comfortable. I used to marvel at the juxtaposition of the old Jewish community in this human brew. Ya, when Marilyn and I were postdocs at UCLA, we lived a few blocks south of the Santa Monica airport.

Ohhh I agree, I like the area, relate to it most times.
Those were just the opinions of some republikans I have tripped over.

Nice area there near the SM Airport, not far from the beach and 3rd Street.
I've lived in the Bay Area longer than i lived there.
But California north and south.
